Description

After a review of tensions in charged-current and rare B decays and their interpretation in beyond SM scenarios, we focus on some developments that aim to improve theoretical control. Progress on QED corrections to leptonic decays B_s -> mu mu and B_u -> mu nu has been made, that was required in view of the current accuracy providing in the future precision at the percent level to short-distance quantities. A novel approach to the hadronic charm contribution in rare b-> s ll decays builds on a combined analysis of b->s ll and b-> s (ccbar) -> ll decays to separate hadronic contributions from new physics signals.
