Emergence of chiral zero modes in the IIB matrix model

We numerically investigate whether chiral zero modes appear in the IIB matrix model, which is known as one of non-perturbative formulations of superstring theory. We examine the spectrum of the 6-dimensional Dirac operator for classical solutions of the IIB matrix model, and we find that there exist non-trivial zero modes and the corresponding wave functions are localized. We discuss that these zero modes originate from geometry of the extra dimensions.
