Valence band spectrum of HOPG (highly oriented pyrolytic graphite) is measured by angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy (ARPES). Polarization-dependent measurements are performed to distinguish the symmetry of the atomic orbitals that compose the valence bands. A Dirac band at the K point is also measured.
