About
The 4th International Symposium on Quantum-field Measurement Systems for Studies of the Universe, Particles, and Other Applications (QUPosium2026) will be held December 8–10, 2026 in Tsukuba, Japan. The event is hosted by WPI-QUP, a World Premier International Research Center at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), promoted by the Japanese government.
QUP pursues an axis complementary to the high-energy frontier: the exploration of extremely weakly coupled phenomena using ultra-sensitive quantum sensors. The QUP now works through three scientific pillars, supported by theoretical research and a horizontal technology platform for detector design, fabrication, and characterization. The first pillar addresses fundamental forces and hidden sectors. The second covers light dark matter and axions. The third concerns gravity.
QUPosium2026 brings together researchers from particle physics, astrophysics, atomic and condensed matter physics, and measurement science and engineering to present recent results and to identify where methods and research directions overlap. The symposium places particular emphasis on a candid exchange of what has been demonstrated, what remains unresolved, and on what timescale progress can realistically be expected.
The symposium consists of keynote talks, invited talks, and a limited number of contributed talks. Participants, especially early-career researchers, are encouraged to present posters, which will be displayed throughout the venue and made accessible from the timetable webpage. The symposium is open to researchers and students in related fields. Participant registration is required; there is no registration fee (banquet participation is charged).
