IWSSD 2026
The International Workshop on Superconducting Sensors and Detectors (IWSSD) is a premier forum for researchers, engineers, and students working on the science, technology, and applications of superconducting sensors and detectors. Following a hiatus since the workshop originally planned for 2020, IWSSD 2026 brings together the international community to share recent advances, emerging technologies, and future perspectives in the field.
The workshop covers both low-temperature (low-Tc) and high-temperature (high-Tc) superconducting devices, encompassing fundamental sensor physics, materials and fabrication technologies, cryogenic systems, readout instrumentation, and application-driven developments. Particular emphasis is placed on superconducting devices that enable unprecedented sensitivity, timing resolution, and energy resolution across a wide range of scientific and industrial domains.
Key sensor and detector technologies include Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs), Metallic Magnetic Calorimeters (MMCs), Transition-Edge Sensors (TESs), Superconducting Nanowire Single-Photon Detectors (SNSPDs), Superconducting Tunnel Junctions (STJs), SQUIDs and their applications, as well as other emerging superconducting devices.
The workshop also welcomes contributions on novel concepts and interdisciplinary applications that expand the impact of superconducting technologies. IWSSD 2026 aims to foster collaboration across academia, national laboratories, and industry, providing a unique venue to discuss cutting-edge developments and future opportunities in superconducting sensing and detection.
