Scope
There are currently more than 40 synchrotron radiation facilities in operation worldwide, serving a large and diverse scientific user community. These facilities play a crucial role in advancing research across a wide range of disciplines, including physics, chemistry, materials science, life science, environmental science, and industrial innovation. In addition, several new synchrotron radiation sources and major facility upgrades are underway or in preparation, further expanding the global capabilities of synchrotron-based research.
RadSynch27 provides an international forum for radiation physicists, health physicists, radiation safety professionals, accelerator experts, facility operators and other interested researchers to exchange experiences and discuss radiation protection issues specific to synchrotron radiation facilities. Particular attention will be given to lessons learned from the commissioning and operation of modern diffraction-limited storage rings, advances in radiation measurement and monitoring technologies, developments in shielding calculation methodologies, activation studies, environmental radiation protection, and the application of advanced simulation and data analysis techniques.
Objectives
- To provide an international forum for radiation physicists, health physicists, and radiation safety professionals working at synchrotron radiation facilities worldwide.
- To promote the exchange of scientific knowledge and operational experience related to radiation protection, facility commissioning, routine operation, maintenance, and upgrades of synchrotron radiation facilities.
- To identify areas for improvement in radiation measurements, radiation monitoring, activation assessment, shielding design, and computational methodologies for current and future synchrotron radiation sources.
- To encourage international collaboration and the development of best practices in radiation physics and radiation protection among synchrotron radiation facilities.
