1. Preparation

1.1 Required documents

Japanese Border Measures

• If you have had 3 shots of vaccine for COVID-19, bring valid vaccine certificates.  You do not need to take a pre-departure test.
• Otherwise, you need to take a pre-departure test within 72 hours of your departure.  There are many requirements on the type of the test.  The test result should be negative to enter Japan.
• Valid passport

1.2 Visit Japan Web

Visit Japan Web is an online service for handling quarantine, immigration and customs procedures.  It is best to use it on your smart phone.  Detailed Instruction Manual is here.

1. Step 0: On your smart phone, go to Visit Japan Web and sign up for a new account.
2. Step 1: Register your information such as your name and passport number.
3. Step 2: Register your flight numbers and the place to stay.

4. Step 3: Register required information on arrival procedure.
   • Quarantine (FASTTRACK) to enter your vaccination records.
   • Immigration clearance
   • Customs declaration
5. Click “Use the Visit Japan Web site offline” on the front page, so that you can show necessary QR codes even if you are not connected to Internet.

2. Upon arrival

Show QR code on the screen for quarantine, immigration, and customs.

3. Inside Japan

Here are general guidelines against COVID-19.

• Wear a mask on public transport and inside buildings.
• Wear a mask when you talk.
• Use nonwoven fabric masks. Urethane masks are useless.
• Try to keep silence when you eat or drink.
