Description

In this talk, I introduce two properties of chaotic systems, such as double pendulums, in the semi-classical regime: 1) We can derive a simple effective Hamiltonian for fluctuations around the classical chaotic trajectory. 2) By quantizing the fluctuations, the Hamiltonian reveals that they obey an emergent thermodynamics similar to the Hawking phenomenon observed in black holes. These two properties are universal in dynamical chaotic systems.
