An Email regarding how to apply for visa was sent to all the registrants. The same instruction will be sent to people who registered later. - May 27, 2022
New border measures (28) will be applied starting June 1, 2022. Everybody from abroad still need a visa and a pre-departure test taken within 72 hours of before the flight departure time. (Requirements on the pre-departure test) To apply for visa, you need a set of documents prepared by the organizing committee. People from Group "Blue" countries (most of European countries, US, Canada, China, Taiwan, Republic of Korea, ...) are not required to have a quarantine period, on-arrival tests, nor a vaccine certificate. - May 25, 2022
We encourage you to register to the conference first, so that once our system is ready, we can send you an Email asking for necessary information to initiate the paperwork to get visa. - May 19, 2022
For you to apply for a visa, we first need to register you to a government system allowing you to enter Japan under the COVID-19 situation, and prepare some documents (including an invitation letter) to be attached to your visa application. Once we make sure that the whole procedure works with a few people, we will send a notice to everybody to fill necessary information for the paperwork. We should be ready by the end of May.

As of May 27, all foreign nationals who wish to newly enter Japan need to apply for a visa except for those with re-entry permit. See "Border Measures ..." below.
