Second Bulletin v1.3 (May 25, 2022) in PDF format
General Information
The 2022 edition of the International Conference on Kaon Physics will be hosted by Osaka University, Osaka, Japan, from September 13th to 16th, 2022. This conference continues the KAON series which was originated in 1988 and offers opportunities for theorists and experimentalists from the high-energy physics community to discuss all aspects of kaon physics.

Scientific Program
The organizers aim to have a stimulating mix of presentations on experimental and theoretical particle physics covering recent results, current status, future plans of experiments, and new developments.
The program covers all aspects of kaon physics:
- CP and T violation
- CKM matrix and flavor mixing
- Rare decays
- Precision Standard Model tests
- CPT and quantum mechanics
- Lepton universality and flavor violation
- Theory
- Physics beyond the Standard Model
- Future opportunities in kaon physics
The organizers aim to create an informal atmosphere among participants, with plenty of opportunity for discussions and developing contacts. All of the sessions will be plenary sessions. We welcome and encourage participation of all High Energy Physics experimentalists and theorists from graduate students to senior researchers.
To accommodate those who cannot participate in person, the conference will adopt hybrid style. Details will be available in future bulletins.

Registration and Abstract Submission
Participants will register by means of an online form available at the conference website after April 18th. Abstracts for talks can be entered at the time of registration, and edited later. Abstracts should be completed by June 11th.
Registration Fees
For students participating remotely, the registration fee is free. One has to still register to declare oneself and apply for it.
Otherwise, for on-site participation, the registration fee is 36000 Yen if paid by July 16th, and 39000 Yen afterwards. The registration fee covers conference costs, coffee break, and social events for participants. For remote participation, the registration fee is 3000 Yen.
Considering the fluid situation of COVID-19 and the world, we suggest holding off paying your registration fee until the early or late payment deadlines, unless you are determined to attend remotely. Should the situation change after paying for an on-site participation in such a way that it forbids you from attending the conference in-person, the total amount will be paid back after subtracting a cancellation fee of 3000 Yen. You can still attend the conference remotely.
All the payments, including the fees for accompanying persons attending social events, must be paid by credit card, and by August 13th at the latest. The payment will be handled through WWW.GAKKAI-WEB.NET, and will appear as “KAON2022 CONFERENCE” in your monthly statement.
Proceedings
Contributions to this conference will be peer-reviewed and published online in the Institute of Physics Conference Series.
Visas and Entry to Japan
Requirements on visa is available at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan web page. As of April 12th, visa is required for all foreign nationals except for those with reentry permit.
The current border measures against the spread of COVID-19 is available on the conference website.
We encourage you to register to the conference first, so that once our system is ready, we can send you an Email asking for information required to initiate the paperwork to get visa. The deadline for the information is July 16th.
Conference Venue
We plan to use Nambu Yoichiro Hall in the Toyonaka Campus of Osaka University. The conference venue is a 10-minute walk from “Shibahara Handai-Mae” (sometimes just “Shibahara”) station of Osaka Monorail. (Handai is an abbreviation for Osaka University.)
Accommodation
Many hotels are available around Esaka and Shin-Osaka stations on Osaka Metro Midosuji Line shown in Fig. 1. To come to the venue, you can transfer from the Midosuji Line (Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line to be exact) to Osaka Monorail at Senri-Chuo, and get off at Shibahara-Handai-Mae. There are also some hotels available around the Osaka (Itami) Airport and Senri-Chuo.
Typical prices of hotel rooms are around 4000 - 15,000 Yen / night / person. Some hotel information is available on the conference website.
Travel
The hotel areas listed above and the conference venue are accessible from
-
Kansai International Airport (KIX),
-
Osaka (Itami) Airport (ITM) which has connection flights from Narita Interna- tional Airport (NRT), Tokyo International Airport (HND), and Fukuoka Interna- tional Airport (FUK).
-
Shin-Osaka train station (for Shinkansen bullet train which runs from Tokyo).
More details are available on the conference web page.
Social Events
The following social activities are being planned
- Evening of September 12th: Reception at the Conference Venue
- Afternoon of September 15th: Excursion (The date has changed.)
- Evening of September 15th: Banquet.
Tickets for accompanying persons should be purchased at the time of paying the registration fee. For each accompanying person, the fee is 4000 JPY for the excursion, and 6000 JPY for the banquet.
