Description

The 10th International Workshop on Neutrino Beams and Instrumentation (NBI2017) will be held at Tokai-mura village, Ibaraki, Japan from September 18 to 22, 2017. This workshop series was initiated at KEK in 1999 when K2K, the first long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiment between KEK and Kamioka, started its operation. It has since rotated between KEK/J-PARC, CERN, and Fermilab every two years, giving unique opportunities for physicists and engineers working on high-intensity neutrino beam facilities, as well as other similar particle physics target facilities, to meet together, sharing mutual knowledge, operational experience, and upgrade plans to realize Mega-Watt-class beam power facilities.

The NBI2017 will be jointly organized with the 4th meeting of the RaDIATE collaboration - Radiation Damage In Accelerator Target Environments. As neutrino beam facilities and other high-intensity target facilities for particle production become increasingly powerful, there is a pressing need to better understand and predict the radiation response of materials utilized in target, beam window, and other beam intercepting applications. The RaDIATE Collaboration will draw on existing expertise in related fields in fission and fusion research to formulate and implement a research program, that will apply the unique combination of facilities and expertise at participating institutions to a broad range of high power accelerator projects of interest to the collaboration.
